Pline (79 after J.C) wrote in "Natural History": "Diamond
represents the greatest value, not only between all precious stones,
but also among all good things we have, on earth". Then, diamond
lost its whole value with the expansion of new believes. It only
found its place at the end of XV Th. century, when cut technical
spread and improve to make it the first of precious stones. Business
of diamond mostly takes place in Venice until XV Th. century, then
in Bruges where rough diamonds coming from Rhine Valley are perfectly
cut.
But sand bank of Rhin
river led the decline of its activities which went to Antwerpen
with new communication easiness. Thanks to its favorable position
to Lisboa, (which discovered a direct way to India by "Bonne
Esperance" Cap in 1408); Antwerpen had its business developed
very soon. The town became the principal marketing center of Indian
